Discreet protected entrance integrated into contemporary architecture

Discreet integration. Project-specific performance.

One client-side coordination line across architecture, structure, building services, specialist protection and delivery.

Capabilities

Structure the decision before committing the solution.

CiviTech coordinates the brief, specialist team, interfaces, programme, cost and evidence. Licensed specialists retain responsibility for regulated technical work; the client handles all local approvals and construction permits.

Four illustrative mandates

Different assets. One disciplined route to feasibility.

These are concept studies—not completed projects, designs or performance claims. Each shows the decisions and coordinated outputs an initial mandate would establish.

Approach

A controlled project route.

Every mandate advances through defined decisions. A product or system is not selected before the required outcome, responsibilities and verification route are understood.

  1. 01

    Define the requirement

People, operations, scenarios, protected functions, duration and constraints.

  2. 02

    Compare practical arrangements

New-build, connected retrofit or standalone options where relevant.

  3. 03

    Establish the concept

Functional scope, specialists, client-provided permit constraints, cost basis, programme and risks.

  4. 04

    Coordinate delivery

Design, procurement, construction, testing, handover and operating readiness.

Regional reach

Global coordination. Client-led local approvals.

CiviTech maintains one technical coordination process. The client and its appointed local professionals remain responsible for authority procedures, approvals and construction permits in every location.

Experience and boundaries

More than 20 years of international construction management and project delivery experience.

CiviTech is a Swiss coordination practice for clients who need an organised route through a specialist project. It does not imply delivery history under the new CiviTech brand.

Scope note:

Structural, specialist-security, healthcare, cleanroom and other regulated work is designed, signed and verified by appropriately qualified professionals for the project jurisdiction.

Technical editorial

Clear answers before expensive decisions.

Evidence-led guidance for private clients, developers, architects and facility owners—written to clarify scope, terminology and project risk.

Bunker, safe room or protected residence?

These labels are often used as if they describe different quality levels. They do not. Each can refer to a different purpose, regulatory basis and performance requirement. A credible project starts by defining the event, occupants and required outcome before naming the space.

New build, retrofit or standalone?

There is no universally best arrangement. A new-build integration usually gives the design team the cleanest interfaces. A connected retrofit preserves direct access from an existing asset but introduces uncertainty. A standalone structure gains independence while taking on a complete set of site and utility requirements.

How much protected space is enough?

A reliable area cannot be selected from occupancy alone. The protected-operation target, activities, accessibility, hygiene, storage, system space, maintenance and escape strategy all affect the required area. Start with a functional schedule, then test whether the resulting layout works.

The essential systems

A protected structure is only as usable as its weakest essential service chain. Equipment lists are not enough: the team must define loads, interfaces, failure responses, maintenance access, consumables and verification for air, water, wastewater, power, temperature and communication.
